Born in Detroit, Mich., Mary Louise spent her young years in Glendale and raised a family in Whittier and Newport Beach. She lived in Laguna Beach for 42 years and was married to her beloved husband, Don, for over 60 years.

She traced her American heritage to the Mayflower and for many years was an active member of the Daughters of the America Revolution and the Christian Science Society of San Juan Capistrano. A dedicated Trojan fan, she graduated from the University of Southern California where she served as president of the Women Students and Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was a member of Mortar Board National Honor Society.

She and her husband shared a deep love for the beauty and uniqueness of Laguna Beach.  She is survived by her children, Kathleen Ferguson Smith and Robert Scott Ferguson, their spouses Richard Smith and Tracy Ferguson; and grandchildren, Corbett Smith and Kyle Smith, Andrew Ferguson and Juliana Ferguson.

She lived her life with boundless joy, ceaseless gratitude, beauty and grace. She also had an infectious sense of humor and loved to laugh. Her legacy is one of enduring love and joy. She had a lasting impact on all who knew her. We are deeply grateful for the gift of her life. Memorial services are to be arranged.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Science Society of San Juan Capistrano or the Laguna Canyon Foundation.
