Holocaust Quest Unearths a Surprising Find

Mayor Addresses the State of the City

Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen and City Manager John Pietig will speak at the annual State of the City lunch Wednesday, May 6, at the Montage Laguna Beach, 30801 S. Coast Highway,

The 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. event hosted by the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce is open to the public.

Police Tap Dog Walkers as Crime Fighters

Laguna Beach police invite local dog owners to join a new crime prevention initiative, Dog Walker Watch, by attending a noon kick off meeting and training session with their pets in Alta Laguna Park Saturday, May 2.

Dog Walker Watch is intended to encourage recreational dog walkers to serve as an extra set of eyes and ears since they know their routes well and can easily discern what is out of place.

Local resident Bill Hoffman, known for offering tours from San Diego to San Francisco, has partnered with Stephanie Reid, of Laguna Travel, to add other destinations, such as recent home and garden tours in Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C.

A highlight of the Georgia trip was dinner at The Old Pink House, a Savannah landmark where Hoffman joined the resident strolling minstrel in singing Southern standards.

Friends Lunch and Read

The Friends of the Laguna Beach Library will hold their 11th annual Ladies Who Lunch and Read lunch at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5 at restaurant 370 Common, 370 Glenneyre St.

Prizes will be awarded for the best hats. Guests can also participate in a raffle and share the books they have enjoyed.
