Why do we need a skate park in the city limits? Laguna Beach is a small community and we don’t have the room like other communities to have all that we want. We need to look outside the city limits to go to skate parks and the like. I was born and raised here in Laguna Beach and while being a teenager the nearest skate park was in Oceanside and we drove all that way just to skate, never thinking we needed one in Laguna Beach. Now there is a skate park in Laguna Hills and Coast Mesa, just in our back yard. Why do we need to be like these other communities?
If we are trying so hard to be like every other community in the area, when will we get the bowling alley or race track for cars, or horse riding lanes? Oh yeah, and we need a large shopping mall with movie theaters, or a roller coaster at Main Beach. How about an aquarium or a marina with boat slips? What we really need is a stadium that can have monster truck races or better yet a casino. When will we lobby for those things?
This group needs to be reminded this is Laguna Beach. We don’t have the room to be like other communities with skate parks etc….
By the way a skate park is not going to stop the speed skaters that want to skate down our steep hills, but it will bring more people to Laguna Beach to try the new skate park and that will create more traffic and parking problems and another place for the out of town teenagers to smoke, hang out, etc……
I really wanted to go to the skate park meeting held by the LBGOP this last Saturday but I was busy taking my son to a bowling alley out of town!
