Jessie N. Blumenfeld died peacefully in her sleep at home in Laguna Beach on March 19. She was 97 years old.
Blumenfeld was born in New York City on Jan. 26, 1915, and lived in her birthplace until 2005 when she move to Laguna Beach to be near her family. She attended New York’s Hunter College and taught third grade in the Yonkers School District until she retired. Upon moving to Laguna, she became actively involved in the Susi Q Senior Center.
She is survived by her son Mark Blumenfeld and daughter Nikki Grant, both Sawdust Festival artists; grandsons Daniel Blumenfed and Micah Grant; and a great grandson, Dylan Grant. She will also be missed by daughter-in-law Beverly Blumendfeld and son-in-law Jay Grant.
The family thanks caregivers Sharon Lee, Victoria Maddock and Teri Rasmussen for the tender care they extended to Jessie during her final days.
