Local realtor Amber Raulston conducted a food and toiletries drive to benefit the Laguna Food Pantry this month.
She collected 17 bags of groceries in her neighborhood.
“Food and family is such a big part of our holiday season. It makes me feel good to think I might have helped bring a little comfort to a family in need,” said Raulston. “It’s the least I can do.”
Garden Club Steps in to Save Rare Tree
The Laguna Beach Garden club, which recently hosted a presentation by the National Tropical Botanical Garden, agreed to donate $1000 towards preservation of an endangered tree in Eastern Kauai, Hawaii.
The tree commonly known as ‘Ohe maku suffers from the impacts of invasive plants and animals and the absence of its natural pollinator.
Funds from the club will be used to harvest seeds from 30 newly discovered trees reached by helicopter.
Woman’s Club Hosts Luncheon and Party
Nearly 75 Woman’s Club members and guests mingled and shopped for holiday gifts at the recent Tarnished Treasures lunch.
Proceeds benefit needy families who were invited to a party the following day where they had the opportunity to shop for donated clothing and household items.
