OCMA Director Departs
Newport Beach’s Orange County Museum of Art announced the resignation of its 10-year director, Dennis Szakacs, effective Dec. 31.
Szakacs, of Laguna Beach, has served as OCMA’s director and chief executive since April 2003, and will consult for the museum through mid 2014. During his tenure, OCMA’s annual budget doubled to $5 million and its endowment grew to $11 million from $7 million and the museum’s facilities were renovated and updated.
Sawdust Elects New Officers
The Sawdust Art Festival’s new board, elected by 200 members in August, met for the first time last week. The new president is Rachel Goberman and include officers Cindy Stalnaker, Sue Thompson and Michael Thorstensen, as well as other board members Jay Grant, Gavin Heath, Dennis Junka, Mike Kelly and Tracey Moscaritolo.
