Promoter Receives a Promotion

Ashley Johnson, who worked for 10 years in various jobs for Visit Laguna Beach, was named president and chief executive of the 30-year-old organization.

Johnson oversees marketing and management of the city’s official visitors center and was instrumental in pressing for the year-round trolley program that began last year and a mobile app, says a statement.

“She has our full support and we enthusiastically look forward to growing Visit Laguna Beach’s reach and presence under her direction,” said Joanna Bear, Visit Laguna Beach chair and manager of Surf & Sand Resort.

California State Treasurer John Chiang spoke recently about modernizing public finance at a meeting of city treasurers and at the League of California Cities revenue and taxation committee. Laguna Beach City Treasurer Laura Parisi chairs the league committee.

Wells Fargo investment advisor Tory Thomas recently received the Assistance League’s businessperson of the year award for his community contributions, according to League member Kathleen Hardcastle.




Local Therapist Presents at State Convention

Lynn Epstein, owner of the Laguna Beach Language & Speech Clinic, was guest speaker at the California Speech Language Hearing Association’s state convention recently.

Epstein created the How Do You Know? App, a tool for children to practice and reinforce critical thinking skills.
