Tuesday May 12: Laguna d. Santiago (Corona) 25-17, 25-15, 25-15

Laguna opened their 42nd consecutive trip to the playoffs with a sweep of Santiago (Corona) this past Tuesday, May 12, at Dugger Gym. Breakers were somewhat listless against the Sharks (15-14) in the first set before tough serving by Dane Olson broke a 16-16 tie allowing the Breakers to take the set. Second set was equally challenging until Tyler Alter went on a strong serving run to run a 16-13 lead to a 21-13 advantage. The visitors never threatened in the final set. Pete Obradovich led with 13 kills, Barry Greenough had 10 kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists. Isaac Wullf dished out 41 assists, three kills and an ace and Ben Jones contributed with a couple of strong serving runs. The 46 team set-assists was the fourth best total for a three-set match in the rally-scoring era. Breakers lead the series with Santiago 3-0
