Public Meets Candidates for School Board

The public is invited to attend a 6 p.m. forum with candidates for school board Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Artists Theatre, 625 Park Ave.

All three candidates, challengers Howard Hills and Peggy Wolff, and incumbent Jan Vickers, will participate and answer questions from the audience during the forum.

The local branch of the American Association of University Women is hosting the event in conjunction with the League of Women Voters.

Kathleen Fay, who serves as advocacy leader in the Laguna Beach PTA Council, will moderate the discussion.

Candidates will each give opening remarks followed by a Q&A session with time­limited responses. Questions from the audience may be written on index cards beforehand or at the event, where cards will be provided.

There will also be a voter registration drive on site where those who are eligible, or will be eligible by November 8th, may register to vote.

Free parking is available in the district parking lot on Park Avenue. Refreshments will be served.

The 20-member Laguna Beach Arts Alliance plan a candidates forum from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept.10, at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Rd.

The public is invited to party to re-elect Steve Dicterow to the Laguna Beach City Council from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Mozambique restaurant, 1740 S. Coast Highway.

There will be no charge for attendance though donations will be gratefully accepted, says a statement by Norm Grossman, who is assisting with the campaign.

 

Another Opportunity to Quiz Council Candidates

The Laguna Canyon Conservancy will present the four candidates for City Council at its monthly 6:35 p.m. dinner meeting Monday, Sept. 12, which takes place at Tivoli Too Restaurant, 777 Laguna Canyon Road.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to make a short statement and a question-and-answer segment will follow.

Cost is $10 for LCC members and $15 for non-members. Please RSVP to 949 235-8277.

Unregistered voters or those 18-year-olds who are newly eligible can still register to cast their ballot in the November election.

Register locally from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at the Woman’s Club, 286 St. Ann’s Dr.
