With respect to last week’s letter asking that Village Laguna spend money on insurance policies as opposed to candidates, let’s all chalk one up to small minded-ness.
It is not the mandate of the folks with in Village Laguna, nor within the city of Laguna Beach, to sanitize the city for your protection.
The city will not provide earplugs if mariachi music drifts over your fence. The city will not provide you with cases of Fabreeze if garlic wafts from your neighbor’s kitchen. The city is not required to rake the dreaded eucalyptus leaves from your driveway. Nor is Village Laguna.
Take the good and celebrate it. Take the bad and fix it. That’s what a city does for you, that’s what Village Laguna fights so hard to do. You cannot protect yourself from other people and other things because that defies the definition of a city.
I’m guessing, but I’ll bet I’m right when I say this: Village Laguna cares not about protecting your eyes, but in opening them. The beauty that surrounds you should suffice.
