Restoration is underway of the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park’s Emerald Canyon Trail, which was closed due to heavy rains in 2010. The repair project will include construction and installation of two bridges, according to an OC Parks statement.

The work includes trail trimming, re-routing and maintenance along with the installation of a 16-foot long wooden span and a second span across a 60-foot wide, 20-foot deep gully created by the storm damage. The work will span approximately 1.75 miles of the Emerald Canyon Trail.

OC Parks is working with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy and Laguna Canyon Foundation and expects to complete the project and reopen the trail this spring.
