Trash Collection Schedules, Tree Recycling Shift

During the weeks ending Dec. 27 and Jan. 3, trash collection will be delayed by one day for customers normally serviced Thursday and Friday.

Waste Management will collect and recycle holiday trees on the regular or rescheduled collection days at no charge between Friday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Jan. 16. Trees must be cut to lengths less than four feet. Decorations, tinsel, metal ornaments and metal stands must be removed from the trees.

Flocked trees will be collected but cannot be made into compost due to their chemical content. After Jan. 16, non-flocked trees can also be recycled by cutting them up and placing them in the green waste carts.

Street Improvements Underway

The street slurry seal project began last week and is 20% completed, reported City Manager John Pietig.

The project involves five weeks of preparatory work including pavement repair and drainage improvements. It resumes Jan. 5 on 42 streets in the Arch Beach Heights and Temple Hills neighborhoods.
