The public is invited to meet this year’s Patriots Day Parade honorees at the Honorees Fundraiser Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Tivoli Terrace, 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Leading the parade will be Laguna Beach resident and Olympic gold medal swimmer, grand marshal Janet Evans.

Joining her will be World War II veteran, honored patriot Robert R. Mosier; citizen of the year Wayne Baglin; junior citizens Perry Nielson and Garrett Burk; artist of the year Carol Reynolds; and athletes of the year, world champion surfers Alisa Schwarzstein Cairns and Ian Cairns.

The parade will be held Saturday , March 1, starting at 11 a.m.

Water Users Asked to Turn Off the Tap

Local water district customers are urged to restrict their use of water during a planned shutdown of supply system, which nevertheless is not expected to affect water’s availability, South Coast Water District announced Monday.

The 11-day shutdown begins Monday, Jan. 13, of a portion of the Metropolitan Water District’s 26-mile Allen-McCollough Pipeline, which supplies the Orange County Coast Water. The line serves Orange County communities from Yorba Linda to San Clemente, including the South Coast Water District, which supplies South Laguna and other cities.

Application Process Underway for Committee Appointments

Interviews for potential candidates who want to serve on the Recreation and Parking, Traffic & Circulation committees will be conducted on Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 505 Forest Ave.

All are for two-year terms, which run through 2016.

The Recreation Committee oversees the town’s recreation and park needs and meets on the first Monday of each month. The Parking, Traffic, Circulation Committee advises the council on parking, traffic, circulation, transit and traffic complaints and meets the fourth Thursday of the month.

Applications are available from the City Clerk’s office or on-line and must be filed by Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m.
