Sampling from the Jethro Tull Songbook

Editor,

In the Feb. 5 Indy article Shortcomings Surface in Parking Analysis [City Manager John] Pietig urged the consultants to specifically factor-in the lack of parking available for beach-goers and as well as art festival patrons. “Clearly they’re under-parked” he said.

This article makes no mention of parking solutions offered by Complete Streets policy like it were some Bohemian ritual from the canyon. Instead the council, the mayor and city manager allude to the facts with charming incantations that in Laguna 10 cars park in the space for seven or five. Yes that one, the corollary to 10-pounds of sand.  Get real.

The article illustrates a willful denial to solve our mobility problems from city leaders living in the past (about 1970) and reflecting “Thick as a Brick” lyrics from Jethro Tull, “I make you feel, but I can’t make you think.”

Here is some free consulting advice: clearly, Laguna has too many cars.
