Thurston Middle School’s library was transformed over the summer with new furniture and technology, which Principal Jenny Salberg and teachers now call the “Collaboratory.”
The renovations resulted from last spring’s SchoolPower Fund-A-Need campaign to remake learning spaces into collaborative environments.
“From the moveable furniture to the presentation tools, it’s an ideal environment for collaboration among teachers and students alike,” language arts teacher Sarah Schaeffer says in statement from Schoolpower, the public school support organization.
Schoolpower’s campaign broke records, thanks to doubling matches by the Martini and Wilson families.
SchoolPower has provided $550,000 over the past two years for similar transformations in spaces at all four LBUSD schools, the statement says.
…and not a word about the librarian?
