Laguna Beach Pack 35 Cub Scouts participated in Flag Day by retiring U.S. flags at Aliso Beach in a ceremony designed to respectfully honor our nation’s flag and inform the scouts about the significance of our flag.

Cubmaster Tom Fay explained the meaning of the 13 stripes, 50 stars, and the colors of the flag.

One by one, the boys placed a separated stripe or section of stars from the flags in the fire.

The boys were asked to remain silent and were reminded to be solemn in remembrance of the sacrifices many have made for our country.   The flags were collected from Laguna Beach businesses and residents who want damaged or aged flags to be retired honorably.
