To help observe Meals-on-Wheels’ national awareness campaign, Laguna Beach’s Mayor Toni Iseman helped make home-deliveries from Mission Hospital Laguna Beach on last week.
Joining her and other volunteers on the delivery route was Michael Beck, the hospital’s vice president of operations. About 120 meals are prepared daily for 42 local residents, according to Jhovanna Midencey, a hospital spokeswoman. Langlois, a local business that makes frozen foods, prepares entrees that are brought to the hospital where they are prepped for Meals on Wheels deliveries, she said.
In the most recent nine months, 275,000 home-deliveries have been made, including 50,000 to the Susi Q Senior Center, where daily lunches are also provided to seniors who stop in.
