On behalf of Laguna Beach Seniors, its president emeritus, Chris Quilter, accepted his brother Patrick’s traditional challenge grant, encouraging others to donate by matching their gift at the annual lunch last week.

The entire City Council was in attendance along with 200 others who heard from board president Tina Haines describe the group’s efforts to reach outside the walls of The Susi Q senior center and assist needy seniors who may be homebound or immobile.

Ukulele players led the group in singing carols and Norman Powell shared a personal testimonial of finding camaraderie among Laguna Beach Seniors, noting that the group offers 70 programs through the center.

In 2015, the group’s 40th year, the organization seeks 40 partners to raise $40,000 collectively and continue Laguna Beach Seniors’ mission to enhance the lives of seniors. For info: http://www.thesusiq.org or call 949.497.2441.
