A memorial paddle out for Hobie Alter, whose innovations reshaped surfing and sailing, is planned for 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Doheny State Beach.
The water ceremony should begin at 4:30 p.m. The gate will be open free of charge from 4 to 7 p.m., says a statement on the company’s website.
