The Soul Project apparel company reflects work by entrepreneurs, designers and artists who embrace “socially conscious capitalism.” Its first store opens Saturday, June 21.

Local Laguna Beach apparel brand The Soul Project opens its flagship retail location Saturday, June 21, at 1516 S. Coast Highway, and co-founder Summer Meek and her team plan a daylong celebration.

The store, a 900 square foot cottage and garden, will feature the full Soul Project line of women’s, men’s and kid’s apparel and accessories, and the second location of Print, the company’s apparel and accessory printing service.

“With organizations like Patagonia and Tom’s Shoes as inspirations, The Soul Project looks to follow the path of non-traditional commerce where the activities and success of the company are driven by the desire to make a positive contribution in the world,” said co-founder Don Meek.

The brand is intended to help preserve captivating “soul” places, which are often physically beautiful but face challenges, Summer Meek explained. “The Soul Project is to protect the future of each of these places by supporting groups that work on the future–kids and the environment– in a grass roots way,” she said. Local artists are tapped to create a limited edition product line representing a “soul” place.

“We are truly excited about having our own unique space to tell our story, welcome our customers and spread our wings, and we hope the entire community, locals and visitors alike, will stop by, say hello and experience The Soul Project first hand,” she said.
