Registration Opens for Youth Baseball

The Boys & Girls Club will offer baseball and softball teams with an assist from the Angels baseball organization.

Registration is now open for the 16 spots available for children in the fourth and fifth grades on the club’s co-ed team. Practice will begin later this month and the season runs March through June. Some gear will be provided by Angels Baseball and some training take place at Angels Stadium.

Track Meet Sets Out Soon

The city’s annual boys and girls track meet at Laguna Beach High School sets out Friday, March 18, between 5 and 8 p.m.

Children attending or residing within the Laguna Beach Unified School District boundaries and born during or after 2001 are eligible to compete in a maximum of three events each.

The top four finishers from each age division will qualify for the Orange County track meet, scheduled for May 1.

Submit a completed registration form along with $17 entry fee to the Community Services Department by Thursday, March 17. For further info, contact Recreation Supervisor Alexis Braun at (949) 497 – 0762.

After defeating three top AYSO teams, the Laguna Beach girls under 14 team took on Corona del Mar and won the Section 11 championship 4-0 during the league tournament Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14.

The team coached by Lisa Clute and Dave Shipp is now moving on to the Western States Championship in Bullhead City, Ariz., on March 19 to compete against top teams in five Western states.
