Baseball (3-2)

Laguna’s Newport Elks tournament run started on March 2 with a tough 5-3 loss at Corona del Mar. Ashton Goddard took the loss going four innings, giving up five runs on four hits, walking five and striking out five.

On Saturday, March 4, Valencia scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7-6 win at the Tiger’s field in Placentia. Breakers and Valencia have played each other over 60 times since 1938 with Laguna coming out on top only 15 times.

On Monday, Blake Burzell tossed a two hitter and Lance Stewart provided the save as the Breakers defeated Santa Fe 5-1 at the Chief’s field. Grady Morgan had two hits and drove in two runs. Jack Loechner, Ashton Goddard, and Kolton Freeman had the other RBI’s. Laguna hosted St Paul’s on Wednesday, March 8.
