The public is invited to help shape a discussion about Orange County’s housing needs at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 in City Council chambers.

A panel of experts which includes Dawn Price from the Friendship Shelter in Laguna Beach will convene for the talk led by Karen Williams, president of 211 Orange County. She promises the discussion will not be just about the homeless but all housing issues.

The community is encouraged to send questions for the panel in advance to [email protected].

Citizens are also encouraged to participate in other events marking National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Month:

Laguna Food Pantry will accept dry-goods food donations at U.S. Bank on Glenneyre Street during business hours.

Unused toiletries can be dropped at bins at the Boys & Girls Club branches, the Susi Q Community Center, and local churches.

Guest chefs can volunteer to prepare lunch or dinner for Friendship Shelter residents by calling 949 494-6928.

Join the annual noon community Thanksgiving potluck dinner on Nov. 24 at Neighborhood Congregational Church.

Attend the free award-winning documentary “The Cats of Mirikitani,” at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Susi Q Community Center, 380 Third St. The film is about an elderly man who survived the trauma of internment camps and homelessness by creating art.
