Baseball (2-0)

Coach Jeff Sears’ return to Laguna got off to a great start as the Breakers swept a double header with Laguna Hills last Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Hawk’s field. In the morning game, Ashton Goddard pitched the initial four innings striking out six and picking up the win. Blake Burzell went two innings and Joe Sweet added one in the 5-1 victory. Breakers collected eight hits off the hosts.

In the afternoon game, Grady Morgan picked up the victory as Laguna rallied past the Hawks 5-3. Laguna’s nine-game win streak dating back to last season will be tested in this week’s Newport Elks tournament as the Breakers open at Corona del Mar on Thursday, March 2.

Breakers will also travel to long-time rival Valencia on Saturday, March 4, and to Santa Fe Springs Monday, March 6.
