Laguna Beach Little League played a tough game in the all-stars final against Aliso Viejo, but unfortunately lost 11-1 at Woodfield Little League Park Saturday, July 1.
Corwin Allard, on the mound nearly the entire game, pitched with heart and managed three strikeouts against a team of strong hitters. His defense was plagued with errors. Almost every run that scored was unearned.
Jerrod Sersansie was a standout on defense in center field, catching and saving three big hits by Aliso Viejo. The team had just a few hits offensively, singles by Gehrig Mackay, Sawyer Thomson, and Leo Pardun.
Gehrig was the lone Laguna runner to score.
The Laguna team’s record in the tournament included a 4-2 win against Northwood Little League June 24, a 14-0 loss against Aliso Viejo June 25; a 7-0 win against Irvine Ranch June 27, a 14-6 win vs. Rancho Niguel June 29; and a 7-1 win against Laguna Niguel June 20.
The kids should take pride in the result as this is only the second appearance by Laguna Beach Little League in the final all-star game in any division, according to one parent.
