Laguna Beach High School student Sterling Butler was honored by Laguna Beach Rotary Club as student of the month for science.
Sterling is the decorated captain of the varsity soccer team and a seven-year member of the West Coast Futbol Club. Sterling also participates on the school’s Athletic Leadership Team and House of Representatives, the Rotary Club statement said.
He has established a non-profit, Score for the Poor, which contributes athletic gear to disadvantaged kids. He also referees AYSO soccer players who are 8 to 10 years old.
Sterling hopes to attend UCLA or Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and major in structural engineering with an emphasis on business economics also.
