.22 Caliber Bullet Found on School Bus

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Thurston Middle School Principal Jenny Salberg alerted parents that one of the school’s bus drivers found an unspent .22 caliber bullet while cleaning a bus after the morning’s drop off at Thurston. Salberg said the Laguna Beach Police Department was immediately notified, and authorities advised that the “weathered, dirty bullet looked to have been on the bus for some time and appeared to be related to the bullets found on campus in October.” Salberg said the situation is being actively investigated by LBPD.

“I want to assure you that we take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students,” she said. “I would like to thank everyone who has contributed information (See Something, Say Something) to help the LBPD in their investigation. If any additional information becomes available, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or our School Resource Officer at [email protected]

Salberg said she will provide an update if any new information becomes available in the investigation.
