Trio Suspected in Mail Thefts

Three people were arrested for suspicion of receiving stolen property, mail theft, and conspiracy to commit a felony last Thursday as a result of a police officer trying to nab speeders at Bluebird Canyon Drive.

Clifford Wayne Cameron, 32, of Santa Ana; Danielle Nicole McCaughey, 29, of  Orange; and Gerald Adam Royster, 30, of Long Beach; were each held for $20,000 bail on three or more charges, said police Sgt. Louise Callus.

Investigators allege that property in the trunk of their vehicle had been stolen from a South Laguna home, though no burglary charges have yet been filed, Callus said. More stolen property and methamphetamine were discovered in an Anaheim hotel room rented by the threesome, Callus said.

The three acted suspiciously after being pulled over about 8:15 a.m. by a motor officer, who saw a car loaded with property and mail. Investigators later learned the car’s occupants allegedly swiped the contents of mailboxes with raised flags, she said.
