Police Pursue False Report Charges
Police will ask prosecutors to charge a 19-year-old Dana Point man with filing a false stolen-vehicle report after he allegedly recanted his story about the theft of his car from a party Saturday, May 4, in Laguna Beach.
The four people who took the vehicle from the 1400 block of Cerritos Drive were involved in a collision after fleeing a robbery in Laguna Niguel, Capt. Jason Kravetz said.
The victim, who was robbed of marijuana, had yet to call authorities at the time of the collision, Kravetz said. Sheriff’s deputies took the four into custody, he said.

Drug activity. 600 block of Park Ave. 11:12 a.m. A 15-year-old was cited for possessing alcohol and pot.
Petty theft. 400 block of Glenneyre St. 12 p.m. Shoes, solar lights and items from a vehicle were reported missing.
Grand theft. 1100 block of Glenneyre St. 10:19 p.m. People who responded to a craigslist ad for electronics took the items valued at $2400 without paying for them.
Wednesday, May 1
Pedestrian stop. 1400 block of S. Coast hwy. 9:35 p.m. A 22-year-old Anaheim man was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $2500.
Burglary. 800 block of Hillcrest D. 9:37 a.m. A washer and dryer valued at $3,000 was taken last week.
Fraud. 1200 block of Glenneyre St. A fraudulent charge of $267 was made to a credit card of a resident by an unknown suspect.
Indecent exposure. Bluff Drive. 1:34 p.m. Subject exposed himself to the reporting party, who doesn’t want the subject to know who reported the incident.
Traffic collision. 1000 block of Temple Terrace. 10:58 p.m. Driver Fred Pichay, 33, of Laguna Beach, hit a parked car and was arrested for suspicion of drunkenness. Bail was set at $10,000 due to a prior offense.

Traffic collision. 200 block Brooks St. 12:32 a.m. A 25-year-old Laguna Niguel woman was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.
Grand theft. 600 block of S. Coast Hwy. 6:54 p.m. A Louis Vuitton wallet valued at $1,500 was stolen while a woman was at the beach.
Welfare check. 300 block of S. Coast Hwy. 7:40 p.m. A 37-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for an outstanding DUI warrant and driving while on a suspended license.

Fraud. 300 block of Poplar St. 11:15 a.m. Someone has opened up a phone account under a resident’s name.
Burglary. 21500 block of Wesley Dr. 12:37 p.m. A resident believes someone entered her home and took legal papers.
Petty theft. 600 block of Park Ave. 1:25 p.m. A camera was taken from a classroom.
Traffic collision. 20400 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 2:27 p.m. Traffic was snarled for 45 minutes after a van plowed into a utility pole; the driver escaped injury.
Traffic stop. 200 block of Anita St. 3:12 p.m. Aguilar Marco Gustavo Resendiz, 26, was arrested for three outstanding warrants with a bail of $15,000.
Welfare check. 300 block of N. Coast Hwy. 6:18 p.m. A 40-year-old Brea man was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.
DUI. Coast Hwy. 7 p.m. A 30-year-old Montana woman was cited for DUI and held for $10,000 bail.

Occupied vehicle. 20300 block of Sun Valley Dr. 2 a.m. A 51-year-old Fullerton woman was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.
DUI. 3200 block of Alta Laguna Blvd. 5:21 p.m. A driver and passenger were cited for marijuana possession.
Fire. 1000 block of Madison Place. 4:53 p.m. Residents fled a single family home without injury after smoke detectors sounded due to a fire in a garage utility room. Multiple units responded to the blaze, determined to be accidental, Division Chief Api Weinert said.
Indecent exposure. 1200 block of N. Coast Hwy. 10:20 p.m. A nude man is using a hose in the alley to bathe.
Burglary. 31700 block of Virginia Way. 10:26 p.m. A resident spotted a man with a skateboard inside her home, which is unlocked.
Disturbance. S. Portola Rd. 11:59 p.m. A 17-year-old girl, whose parents were attending a gala at a local hotel, was issued a possession of alcohol citation as a result of a loud party.

Traffic stop. 200 block of Ocean Ave. 2:22 a.m. A 31-year-old Laguna Beach woman was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.
Disturbance. 30600 block of Coast Hwy. 8:20 p.m. A fight between a man and woman ended with the issuance of a domestic violence citation.
