Grand theft. 31200 block of Ceanothus Drive. 12:05 p.m. Two nights ago the reporting party’s vehicle was unlocked and items were stolen. The burglar was filmed by a neighbor’s security camera. The estimated loss was about $2,500.
Friday, Aug. 27
Drunk driving. Sleepy Hollow Lane and Coast Highway. 12:32 a.m. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was held on a $2,500 bail.
Disorderly person. 200 block of Ocean Ave. 2:50 p.m. An intoxicated man was reported for yelling racial slurs and telling people to go back to their country. Brian Robert Schaar, 36, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication. He was held on a $500 bail.
Saturday, Aug. 28
Traffic stop. 600 block of Laguna Canyon Road. 12:02 a.m. A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She was held on a $2,500 bail.
Vehicle pursuit. North Coast Highway and Reef Point. 3:59 a.m. Officers attempted to stop an Infiniti and pursued the vehicle, which was speeding up to 80 miles per hour. Officers successfully deployed a spike strip near Brooks Street, popping the vehicle’s tires. The chase ended with a traffic collision. Mark Lubomir Peneff, 22, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and reckless evading of a police officer. He was held on a $75,000 bail.
Sunday, Aug. 29
Petty theft. 500 block of Agate St. 12:29 p.m. A woman reported she attended a get-together the prior night and an unknown suspect took her purse, phone, and car keys. The estimated loss was about $600.
Monday, Aug. 30
Physical fight. 100 block of S. Coast Hwy. 5:58 p.m. A group of about six young adults was reportedly involved in a fight and one person was punched in the face. A man fled the scene on foot with someone else’s jacket and cell phone. Officers were unable to find him.
Tuesday, Aug. 31
Disturbance. 200 block of Forest Ave. 6:40 p.m. A street performer is set up and playing loud music. Justin Thanh Nguyen Hoag was arrested on suspicion of forging or counterfeiting a public seal. He was held on a $20,000 bail.
Grand theft. 600 block of Virginia Park Dr. 6:52 p.m. An electric bicycle was reported stolen. It was reportedly locked in the home’s driveway. The estimated loss was about $4,000.
