Laguna Beach High School sophomores and juniors have a chance to experience the college admission process firsthand with a mock admission session with counselors Monday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the high school’s library.

Students will meet regional college admissions representatives and learn how the admission process works nationwide. So far, 18 universities will be represented, says a district statement.

Parents and students will first participate in a case study with counselors who will lead discussions how applicants are evaluated. “This gives students an advantage over other students who have not gone through this process because it helps them prepare for their own application in the near future,” Kaleena Chiddick, an advisor at Oregon State University, said in a statement.

Participants will also run their own mock admissions committee and review mock student applications. The event will conclude with a college fair, allowing students to network with college representatives.

“This is such a great opportunity for our students to get valuable insight on the whole application process,” said LBHS Principal Chris Herzfeld.
