Surf Retailer Hosts Release Party

Inspired by personal trials, travels, tributes and successes, dedicated surfer and singer-songwriter Summer Watson releases her second album, “Something New,” with the encouragement of her employer and top supporter, Newport Beach-based clothing brand and retailer Toes on the Nose.

Toes on the Nose will host a CD release party Saturday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at its Laguna Beach shop, 276 S. Coast Highway.

As with her first album, “This Time,” Watson sought help from friend Kelly Winrich, of Delta Spirit, who produced and engineered her six-song album. “Something New” is deeply personal for Watson, who wrote about relationships, both new and old, as well as personal tribulations.

“The songs on this record are very special to me – all about stories of relationships, travels that I will never forget, and people I’ve met along the way,” said Watson. “Because these songs are so personal and so real, I hope that others can relate to them as well.”

During the recording process, Watson’s mother died, requiring her to put the album on hold. She went on to travel with the Toes on the Nose Salt Sessions Tour, promoting surfing and good vibes along the California coastline. When she was ready to come back, she finished the album in Winrich’s San Clemente studio.

“Not only is she a phenomenal musician, she’s a fantastic surfer and person,” said Toes on the Nose president Richard Allred.

Moonsville Collective will be opening at the album release party. Corey Adams, of Moonsville, also works for Toes on the Nose.
