The Laguna Beach Taxpayers Association will oppose Measure CC, the Laguna Beach Open Space Acquisition and Preservation Parcel Tax Measure, on the Nov. 6 ballot and endorsed challenger Steve Dicterow for election to the City Council.
The measure “would not be sound tax policy, would trigger wasteful spending, and would not result in continuity or sustainability for the existing city open space program,” President Martha Lydick said in a statement.
The group, which promotes economically and fiscally sound taxation and spending policies and practices, described Dicterow as the only candidate who unequivocally opposed Measure CC and use of a new property tax to fund parcel purchases.
In the four-way race, Dicterow and Robert Whalen are challenging incumbents Jane Egly and Verna Rollinger, who are both seeking re-election.
Dicterow also picked up the endorsement of the Orange County Register.
