Laguna local and owner of Elestial Productions Martin Yewchuk says that Hollywood producers Victoria Paige Meyerink and Steven Vlasak have agreed to help him finalize and market his documentary “The Greeter,” about Laguna Beach’s past and present greeters.

Local composer and recording artist David Arkenstone has agreed to score the film.

This year, Laguna Beach celebrates 125 years of greeting starting with Old Joe Lucas in 1890 and continuing today by Michael Minutoli, who wears a captain’s hat and greets passersby at Brooks Street and Coast Highway. He stands beneath a statue of Eiler Larsen, who filled the role from 1938 until his passing in 1975.  The title of “Official Greeter” was bestowed upon Larsen on Feb. 14, 1964.

Yewchuk asks that anyone who has photos or footage of Larsen they would like to share, contact him for possible inclusion in his film.
