Missiles back in the day.
Missiles, back in the day.

“We’re leaving on good terms,” said Poul Pedersen who with his band, The Missiles of October, played their final Marine Room Tavern concert last Sunday night in Laguna Beach. A press release carrying the news from Casa Resorts, owners of the Marine Room, was released on Wednesday Nov. 4 but an employee of the bar said that the band had told their fans last week (Nov. 1) that they were leaving.

The band’s website also announced on Nov. 4 that after more than 24 years at the Marine Room they would be moving over to The White House Restaurant for their 4-8 p.m. Sunday afternoon performances, noting that The White House serves food, which the Marine Room does not.

“They’ve changed the Marine Room a lot,” said Pedersen, adding that their fans liked the stage at the front of house rather than the back where it is now. The White House will be moving tables up front and can accommodate dancing in the back of the restaurant. “It’ll be a nice change,” he said.
