After a long struggle with a rare, incurable form of ovarian cancer, Sandra Woodard died in Aliso Viejo on Oct. 19 at the age of 54.

Friends and family will celebrate Woodard’s life at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at Mariner’s Church, 5001 Newport Coast Dr., Irvine. A gofundme campaign remains open to support her children.

The Thurston Middle School community where her twin 13-year old daughters are students and her church offered support to the single mother in her last days.

Woodard worked at the Hudson Salon and Spa in Laguna Beach owned by her friend Katrina Martino, who started a gofundme campaign in May to help with medical bills. Doctors had discovered a growing malignant tumor and hoped chemotherapy could suppress it.

Determined friends offered frequent flyer miles to send Woodard, accompanied by her brother to the Hufeland Klinik in Bad Mergentheim, near Frankfurt, Germany, for holistic cancer treatments in July.

Before leaving she wrote an email to her supporters. “I am overwhelmed by the kindness of the Laguna community. It truly touches my heart – the daily emails, texts and calls of encouragement I receive. I wish I had the words to express my profound gratitude. My family and I thank you Laguna Beach, from the bottom of our hearts. “
