A group of Top of the World Elementary students rallied this week to raise money for wildlife affected by the oil spill. They stood outside Laguna Beach Fire Station No. 3 and the driving entrance to the campus before the school day started from Monday through Wednesday. Their GoFundMew campaign was $55 short of a $3,000 goal to support the Pacific Marine Mammal Center and Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center of Orange County as of Friday afternoon.

Parent Cathey Curtis said she and fellow parents quickly pulled  together in hopes to motivate other elementary school children to organize their own fundraisers to help,

“We as parents wish to empower our children with ideas and tools so they know that there’s always something we can do to help when a crisis hits,” Curtis said.
