Advisers to the Blue Water Music Festival say Mayor Bob Whalen will introduce an extraordinary measure at tonight’s City Council meeting that, if passed, could still allow the event planned for March 28-29 to go on.

The festival is teetering on the brink of collapse due to the loss of its top

sponsor and headlining top acts last week. Organizers still have yet to finalize the details to obtain a city permit for the show in the Sawdust Festival grounds in part because of delays in negotiating over sound issues with a neighboring business, the Seven Degrees event center.

If the last-minute permit is granted, local promoter Rick Conkey says the show will go on with “local legends and regional stars.” About 30 artists have committed to perform on three stages.

Conkey says, “Life’s too short to roll over. I’ve been working too hard for this.”
