The art of Mariko Ishii will be on display at foaSouth, 1006 S. Coast Highway, the Festival of Arts satellite gallery, from April 9 through July 13. The exhibit showcases Mariko’s printmaking series, titled “Dialogues with Nature.”

Ishii is an eight year exhibitor, said Ron Morrissette, the Festival of Arts’ exhibit director.

The public is invited to a meet the artist at a reception from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, during Art Walk.

 

Art Contest Winners Announced

The city’s Arts Commission selected Al Esquerra, Robin Hiers, Michael Phillips and Jeffrey Skarvan from among 23 entrants to paint their original artwork on 4’ by 16’ banners, which will be displayed during the summer months throughout the city.

They also selected four designs by artists Robin Wethe Altman, Carole Boller, David P. Cooke and Michael Hallinan, whose original artwork will be temporarily displayed on the Verizon building at 295 Broadway Street facing the Whole Foods parking lot.

 

 

 

Artists Offer a Pre-Festival Preview

Twelve artists who work in various media will open their studios for the South Orange County Fine Artists showcase on April 25 and 26. Exclusive access to their homes and studios located from San Clemente to Laguna Beach will be offered to art aficionados and collectors who will have a chance to purchase new works not yet seen by the public. All of the participating artists have been or are currently exhibitors at the Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters

A solo exhibition, “All I Want Is You,” showcases recent works by Philip Womack, that represent a distillation of his art making through drawings, large format paintings, and floor sculpture.

 

Group Show Makes its Gallery Debut

Local artists Howard Hitchcock, Ann Kim, Anne Moore, Hyatt Moore, Jong Ro, Lawrence Terry and Lynn Welker are exhibiting this month at the Sandstone Gallery, 384 N. Coast Highway, along with Mada Leach’s acrylic paintings on paper and Sunny Kim’s paintings on linen.
