A Victory for Open Space Advocates

Future generations will be able to enjoy 297 acres on Mt. Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains thanks in part to local Candice Burroughs.

Coordinating with the Conservation Fund to secure a grant from the state of California, the property was purchased recently by the Watershed Conservation Authority and will be managed by the Forest Service.

The Conservation Fund, based in Arlington, Va., includes a satellite office in Laguna Beach managed by Scott Ferguson and Derek Ostensen.

“I was very pleased to be a part of this, not only because it is a prized piece of real estate but also because the locals were so passionate about keeping it undeveloped,” said Burroughs, of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services
