Sandee Bandetinni, an early learning specialist with the public school district, visited the Boys and Girls Club preschool last month and gave each student 17 donated books to start their own library.

Later, Thurston Middle School student leaders made ornaments with the preschoolers and took the opportunity to practice their conversational Spanish skills with the children.

December continued to be an exciting month for the kids with the annual visit of Santa (Bob Strom sporting a real beard) and Mrs. Claus presenting gifts to the preschoolers. The children sang songs and told Santa what they wanted for Christmas.

A 20-year tradition organized by Sidney Fredette and her mother Lisa Fredette brought another morning of song and gifts for the kids, complements of the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Earlier, the club’s preschoolers wrote a Christmas wish on an ornament and officers stepped in to fulfill the wish. After opening the gifts, the officers, preschoolers and their parents enjoyed lunch together on Friday, Dec. 18.
