Festival Pushes Music’s Boundaries

Cal State Fullerton’s annual New Music Festival explores sonic landscapes – from the Mississippi River to the Arctic — with multiple guest artists performing in Meng Hall.

Ticketed performances are Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1 at 8 p.m., and a free 4 p.m. recital and 1-4 p.m. listening project, also Saturday.

Tickets for the festival curated by Laguna Beach’s Pamela Madsen are $15 and are available at arts.fullerton.edu.

Brunch Offers Delicious Fun

A gospel champagne brunch featuring hot and cold dishes, a carving station, fruits, pastries and free flowing champagne is coming to Tivoli Too, 777 Laguna Canyon Road, on Sunday, March 9. The 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. brunch is part of Celebrate Good Taste,  a three-day culinary adventure from Visit Laguna.

The gospel portion, featuring Ava Dupree and Voices in Praise, begins at 11:30 a.m.

Great Books Promises Great Laughs

Ridiculous fun is predicted for audiences that crack open “All the Great Books (abridged),” which opened at Laguna Playhouse on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The show is written and directed by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor with additional material by Matthew Croke and Michael Faulkner.

“Where else can you be exposed to 83 great books ranging from ‘Harry Potter’ to ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ in about an hour and a half?” asks Executive Director Karen Wood.

The show runs through Sunday, March 30, at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road. Tickets range from $36 – $71 and can be purchased online at lagunaplayhouse.com or by calling 949-497- 2787.

Thursday, March 6, 7-8 p.m. Conversation with Malcom Warner, part of

Celebrate Good Taste events, the museum’s executive director discusses food and drink in art to launch the Wayne Thiebaud exhibit.

Thursday, March 13, 7-8 p.m. Live! at the Museum: Duo del Sol

Concerty by Latin guitar duo Tom Farell and Javier Orman.

Sunday, March 16, 2-4 p.m. Kids’ Art Studio. Participants will create still life paintings of sweets. Reservations are not required. Children under 6 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Thursday, March 20, 6 p.m. Laguna Beach Film Society reception for 2013 documentary “Inequality for All,” screening at 7 p.m. $20.

The museum is located at 307 Cliff Drive. Admission is free from 5-9 p.m. during first Thursday Artwalk.
