Last week the Breakers took a step closer to another league title in a tough 25-12, 25-22, 20-25, 26-24 win over an inspired Calvary Chapel squad (17-4, 5-2) at the Eagle’s gym. Breakers enjoyed the playoff like atmosphere with the rowdy crowd supporting the second place OCL squad ranked No. 10 in D2.

Sam Burgi led Laguna with 28 kills hitting .444 as an outside hitter. Burgi also led the team with 12 digs and along with Josh McManus, Guy Thomas and George Knapp did the critical serve receive passing.

On Thursday April 19 Laguna took care of third place Godinez with a 25-12, 25-15, 27-25 sweep at the Grizzly gym. The third set almost got away from Laguna as they experimented with lineups, but were still able to close out the set win on an 8-2 run including three straight at the end. A dink by Sam Burgi, a solo block by Geste Bianchi, and an overpass kill by Josh McManus finished the match.
