A Vote for Rollinger, a Vote for Village Laguna

Editor,

Election time is here, ponder this:

South Laguna did not want to be part of Laguna (1980’s) – they wanted their independence. They wanted to take care of their own and now they want us to spend money to improve their part of town.

Verna is their leader along with Village Laguna (VL). Both want to protect (isolate) their community and “their beaches” and “do something about all the parking”.  Does that sound familiar?

VL said no to the Montage in early ‘90s. They were outvoted and we have a world class resort that increases our revenues and access to some dramatic coastlines and beautiful gardens.

VL does not want view preservation; they like tree preservation at all cost. If Verna is on City Council she and Toni Iseman will negate the advances have been made toward view preservation.  Why do you think city trees are on hold for removal, etc. The city is on standby for the results of elections.

VL’s vision: trees covering all hillsides hence all views will disappear; It is called view envy by some, especially in South Laguna where views are limited.

VL still wants $200,000 from city to pay off the lot on which they have created a local garden for themselves, use it to convert visitors to VL members and not tell them the whole story.

VL is a political action committee (not a very transparent one as they do not tell people who buy tickets to the Charm House Tour that the money will be used for political gains).  They have changed their IRS standing three times – and the city has accommodated them by changing the rules for the banner across Forest Avenue to include any non-profit including PAC. A member is up early on the computer for that signage privilege thus eliminating others. Who is paying for Rollinger’s campaign?

VL has wasted consulting monies; they never agree to anything presented. They want control.  Yes we have lost businesses/homeowners due to their aggressive stance.

Ann Christoph was mayor when we had the huge fire. She/friends blocked the building of a reserve water tank that might have helped firefighters. It was finally approved/built after Ann left city council. Christoph designed the inappropriate landscape around our high school, etc.

Rollinger = VL = Christoph = no more Laguna – think about that.

  1. Thank you for the information. I live in South Laguna and want to make a correction. Village Laguna nor Vetna Rollinger have ever been considered leaders here. In fact, I don’t believe either one knows enough about this end of town to even consider speaking for us. Same with the two incumbents. If there is a recognized organization in SL it has been the South Laguna Civic Association (SLCA) howevet its member involvement is limited in comparison to the number of residents here. Candidate Judie Mancuso has lived here and she does understand our needs as well as as those of the community at large. She works along side visionaries and doers to get thinks done and resolve problems. I hope you will consider giving her a chance to use her many talents to benefit our town. We cannot have four more years of the status quo. She is smart, compassionate and committed.. Thank you.
