The nation’s top prep water polo opened play last Thursday, Dec. 3, with a 19-3 win over Rosary in a contest played at Servite High School. The victory was the squad’s 53rd in a row. The team hopes this season to overtake the streak of 68 set by top Southern California Division 1 team Dos Pueblos in 2009-11.

Against Rosary, UC Santa Barbara-bound Natalie Selin scored in the first minute of play off a pass by Bella Baldridge and added a second goal on Laguna’s next possession. Overall eight players scored led by freshman Sophie Legget and sophomore Sophia Lucas, each with four. Holly Parker was exceptional in the cage with nine saves and three assists.
