The victim was leaving a Coast Highway restaurant near Fourth Avenue and attempted to get into the driver’s side of the car when she was hit by a northbound, four-door white sedan. “This car will be missing its passenger side mirror,” said Lt. Jason Kravetz

The unidentified woman suffered a fractured left foot and abrasions to her head and left leg, he said.

Police Arrest Suspected Burglar

Kyle Veach

Laguna Beach detectives arrested Kyle Alan Veach, 22, of Indianapolis, Ind., last week, suspected in a daytime burglary in the 800 block of Hillcrest Drive the month before.

Veach was arrested at the Costa Mesa Police Department where he went to retrieve property from an earlier arrest, according to Laguna police Lt. Jason Kravetz.

Earlier in the month at a motel, Costa Mesa police had arrested three men, including Veach, who had with him checks reported stolen from a Laguna Beach burglary five days earlier, police said.

The burglary victim returned home after running errands to find Veach exiting his residence. When confronted, Veach fled the area. The victim discovered his home partly ransacked and items stolen, including personal checks, Kravetz said.

Veach is known to investigators because of an earlier arrest last July for possession of stolen property, to which he later pled guilty. Then, Veach was arrested after stealing an iPhone from an unlocked vehicle.  He received five years probation after entering a plea.
