Fundraiser Supports Women Fleeing Violence
About 50 people contributed $60,000 towards the Tahirih Justice Center during a fundraiser at the Laguna Beach home of Jeff and Suzy Elghanayan Sunday, June 11.
Actress Eva LaRue described the efforts of the Falls Church, Va., organization, to supports girls and women fleeing violence. While Tahirih served over 2,000 clients last year, that amounts to just one in 10 of those who sought help, says a statement.
Lifting a Glass Supports Marine Mammal Center
Donors contributed $11,000 to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center at its eighth annual Martini Madness gala, which was hosted by Sharon Haron and Andrew Turula at the Cliff Restaurant & Bar Sunday, June 11.
The organization rescues, rehabilitates, and releases marine mammals.
Scouts Honor Their Volunteers
Steve and Jennifer Baker, the husband-wife team from Laguna Beach, were among about a dozen volunteers who received special recognition for their service to Girl Scouts at a recent lunch.
Girl Scouts of Orange County CEO Nancy Nygren expressed her gratitude for their efforts. “Together, we are educating our communities about the importance and relevancy of the Girl Scout Leadership Development Experience while changing thousands of girls’ lives for the better.”
