Boys Basketball (3-2)
Laguna went 3-2 at the Godinez tournament finishing third in the silver division. After losing last Tuesday, Dec. 1, to Newport Harbor, Breakers defeated Loara on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Loara 41-32 with Blake Burzell the only player in double figures with 12 points. The following day at Century High School, Laguna defeated Savanna 67-61 as Burzell scored 29 and Isaac Wulff 15 points for the Breakers. On Friday, Dec. 4, Fountain Valley edged Laguna 44-36 as Burzell suffered a sprain and was limited to seven points. In the final game on Saturday, Laguna blasted Costa Mesa 60-20 even without Burzell as Darin Richardson scored 17 and Charlie Rounaghi added 15 in the rout. Laguna led 33-4 at the half and extended their streak to 23 consecutive wins over the Mustangs.
Laguna was on the road this past week facing Dana Hills on Thursday, Dec. 9, and traveling to Irvine on Friday, Dec. 11.
Girls Basketball (2-2)
Girls were in the Corona del Mar tournament last week splitting their games. They lost to Segerstrom 47-41 in overtime on Nov. 30, defeated Mission Viejo 54-40 on Dec. 1, lost to San Juan Hills 49-46 on Dec. 3 and concluded play with a 58-25 victory over Los Amigos. Laguna participated in the Ocean View tournament this week.
