Driving You Crazy
By Grandpa Gramps
Will you let me drive?
No.
Why not?
You don’t have a permit.
You let Dad drive when he was my age.
Before.
Before what?
I let him drive before he was your age.
How am I supposed to learn?
You want to learn before the state says you can learn.
So what. I’m old enough.
Not according to the state Legislature.
If it was O.K. for Dad, why isn’t it O.K. for me?
When I broke the law for your Father
I had the sole responsibility for him and me
And sometimes I was careless.
If your Dad wants to be careless that’s up to him.
You could let me if you wanted to.
If I did, and it were discovered, you’re parents
Might think we can’t be trusted together.
I just can’t risk it.
