Organizing Effort Over School Calendar

Editor,

During the standing room only February school board meeting, the members and Supt. Smith all acknowledged their failure to properly communicate and manage their decision to change the school calendar.

While their belated admission was a positive step, there is a growing group of parents galvanized to be more active and advocate for improved future communications, transparency and decision making by the board. Hundreds of parents beyond those in attendance remain committed to reverse the school calendar decision at the latest by next year.

If you share this goal, or want to be better informed on important issues facing the board and concerns that impact us as parents of LBUSD students, please send us your name and email address to [email protected]. Since our ranks are too numerous for being identified as co-authors of this joint letter, you will see who we are in our first email a week from now. We promise to be as open and transparent as we are asking the board to be.
